Press Release
- The scholarships are part of the Code your Future: Construye Paz initiative, which aims to generate inclusion opportunities through technology education.
- Following the excellent results of the first edition launched in 2022, Globant is opening a second edition of this pioneering program, targeting the community involved in peacebuilding.
Bogota, May 16, 2023 - Globant (NYSE: GLOB), a digitally native company focused on reinventing businesses through innovative technological solutions, and the High Counselling for Peace, Victims, and Reconciliation of the Mayor's Office of Bogotá, announced today the relaunch of "Code Your Future: Build Peace," the technology training program for job placement exclusively aimed at victims of the armed conflict in Colombia. The success of the first edition held in Bogotá this year led to the addition of new programs such as Design, Programming, Business, Digital Entrepreneurship, and Software Quality. These programs will be available in Bogotá, Medellín, Cali, and Barranquilla.
The program's first edition achieved a 100% completion rate, and nearly 20% of participants secured their first job at Globant. That's why the company has decided to relaunch the program, expanding its reach and offering more opportunities for those affected by the internal armed conflict in Colombia, including reintegrated individuals or those in the reintegration process, as well as communities involved in peacebuilding processes.
"Our goal is to create an inclusive pathway for victims of the conflict and other populations involved in peacebuilding through technology education, improving their opportunities to engage within the digital industry. We are excited about this new expanded edition of the program and being able to continue supporting skill and knowledge development in technology in Colombia," expressed Andres Giolito, Country Manager of Globant in Colombia.
For over 90 years, Colombia has experienced a dynamic of internal armed conflict that has left over 9 million victims, mostly forcibly displaced populations migrating from rural areas to capital cities. This phenomenon has had a significant negative impact on vulnerable or underrepresented populations who are seeking opportunities.
"The Construye Paz program served me in two very concrete aspects. On the one hand, it opened doors to employability in the technology industry. On the other hand, it served as an accelerator in my development process, helping me increase and utilize my potential, facilitating the reconstruction of my life plan, which is my main goal," affirmed Jorge Felipe Quintero Suarez, a participant in the program in 2022 and currently a Quality Control Analyst at Globant.
The initiative will allow beneficiaries to access various education options within the Globant ecosystem, including talks, boot camps, and courses. They can complete effective training programs to acquire knowledge and skills, boosting their employability.
Applicants interested in participating in the program and accessing the scholarships must meet the following requirements: having completed high school education; preferably residing in Bogotá, Medellín, Barranquilla, or Cali; being registered in the Unique Victims Registry; having access to computer equipment, among others.
Code Your Future: Build Peace aims to continue serving as an effective tool for social inclusion, equal opportunities, and peacebuilding in Colombia. To uphold this commitment, the training programs will be offered at no cost.
