New Report by Globant and MIT Technology Review Insights Reveal Potential of AI in the Software Development Lifecycle
-
12 Dec 2024
Press Release

- The report explores how generative AI is used across software development and the opportunities that lie ahead.
- It also features in-depth interviews with industry experts from Globant, GitHub, Amazon Web Services, the International Data Corporation, and Google.
Boston, December 12, 2024 — Globant (NYSE: GLOB), a digitally native company focused on reinventing businesses through innovative technology solutions, has partnered with MIT Technology Review Insights to create a new report titled, “Transforming Software Development with Generative AI.” This report explores the potential of generative AI in the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and highlights both the current state of adoption and the future opportunities that lie ahead.
“As an early investor in AI and a leading player in digital transformation, Globant found this partnership with MIT to understand and seize the potential of generative AI in the SDLC deeply enlightening. Although according to the report, we are just scratching the surface of a transformational shift in software, foundations for these transformative capabilities are falling into place,” said Carolina Dolan Chandler, Chief Digital Officer at Globant. “As we challenge our own assumptions, we hope this joint report with such a forward-looking institute offers organizations better insights to navigate this new era.”
302 executives were interviewed to review survey data and research, representing a range of industries and global organizations. Their findings reveal that generative AI has rich potential to revolutionize software development, but full adoption has yet to be reached. Early use cases of generative AI in the software development lifecycle go beyond code generation, including design, prototyping, requirement development, and testing. By democratizing AI, organizations are better equipped to unleash their creativity across every stage of the SDLC, improving teams' productivity and increasing collaboration. In this next phase of generative AI usage, company leaders see the most potential in finding additional ways to measure AI’s impact and increasing the adoption of AI agents to succeed at more complex, multi-step tasks.
Other key findings from the report include:
- Generative AI is already meeting or exceeding expectations in the SDLC: 46% of survey respondents say generative AI is already meeting expectations, and 33% say it “exceeds” or “greatly exceeds” expectations.
- Generative AI adoption is particularly high in the earlier stages of the SDLC: 59% of respondents’ organizations use it for ideation, 65% for design and prototyping, and 61% for code generation. However, organizations that use generative AI in more phases of the SDLC also report seeing greater impact.
- Survey respondents expect AI will “substantially” change the SDLC across most organizations within the next decade, with 38% putting that timeframe at one to three years, and another 31% believe it’s coming in four to ten years.
These findings present a compelling case for the transformative power of generative AI in software development. As organizations navigate their adoption journeys, embracing these innovations will be key to staying competitive in an increasingly digital landscape. To learn more about the report, click here.

Globant and Faros AI Announce Partnership to Drive Faster and More Efficient Agentic AI-Based Projects
-
11 Dec 2024
Press Release

- Through this collaboration, Globant will introduce an innovative method for measuring and extracting insights about its team performance and impact on business results, particularly within the software development life cycle.
NEW YORK – 11 December, 2024 — Globant (NYSE: GLOB), a digitally native company focused on reinventing businesses through innovative technology solutions, announced a strategic partnership with Faros AI, a leader in software engineering intelligence. This collaboration aims to accelerate client transformation through faster and more efficient Agentic artificial intelligence projects, providing a unified platform that highlights the capabilities and benefits of AI-empowered teams.
Faros AI optimizes engineering workflows by benchmarking productivity across the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and identifying bottlenecks, hotspots, and opportunities for improvement. Globant will empower its engineering teams globally with this new tool so that Globers can make faster and more confident decisions for software development. The expected boost in developer productivity, software quality, and system reliability will improve client satisfaction and help win new opportunities.
“We are transforming our approach to team performance by leveraging AI to maximize the strengths of both technology capability and human authenticity,” said Diego Tartara, Chief Technology Officer at Globant. “Globant’s partnership with an innovator like Faros AI represents a natural and essential step forward in helping organizations capitalize on AI breakthroughs at enterprise scale. Data-driven insights into our engineering processes will empower us to deliver greater value to our clients faster and more efficiently.”
Unlike traditional metrics that require re-architecting tools and processes for limited visibility, Faros AI provides a frictionless, open data platform that consolidates information from all current and future engineering tools used by Globant throughout the entire SDLC. This platform offers live feedback, enabling teams to continuously improve their workflows. Lighthouse AI, Faros AI's advanced AI/ML framework, delivers in-depth root cause analysis and customized recommendations to improve lead times, product quality, and production reliability. This new tool complements the ongoing strategy of Globant’s own Agentic AI, which, combined with Globant X's existing AI products, co-creates a powerful synergy and more efficient development cycles by autonomously performing tasks.
“We’re excited to partner with a high-growth powerhouse like Globant to bring our AI-native data platform to more engineering teams globally at this pivotal moment in the AI revolution,” said Vitaly Gordon, CEO and Co-founder of Faros AI, whose team pioneered AI at Salesforce and is now pioneering enterprise-grade software engineering intelligence. “AI is reshaping the software engineering discipline, and Globant's decision to partner with Faros AI speaks to the depth and adaptability of our platform, as well as the unique insights we bring to maximize the impact of AI-augmented teams on business outcomes.”
This partnership is especially timely, aligning with industry trends and meeting the rising demand for advanced analytics and insights that drive stronger team performance. According to Gartner, by 2027, 50% of software engineering organizations will use software engineering intelligence platforms to measure and increase developer productivity, compared to 5% in 2024.

From Synthetic Humans to Invisible Experiences – Globant Releases 2025 Tech Trends Report
-
03 Dec 2024
Press Release

- The yearly report explores crucial sectors expected to experience substantial transformations in the near future.
- These developments signify a move toward a reality where technology is more user-friendly, compassionate, and integrated into everyday life.
NEW YORK – December 3, 2024—Globant (NYSE: GLOB), a digitally native company focused on reinventing businesses through innovative technology solutions, launched its 2025 Tech Trends Report today, highlighting the top tech predictions that will shape the upcoming year and beyond.
“As we approach 2025, the technological environment is poised for groundbreaking changes that will fundamentally reshape our world,” said Diego Tártara, Chief Technology Officer at Globant. “While captivating forecasts can sometimes distract us, Globant’s Tech Trends report shines a light on the exciting advancements ahead. It highlights the critical trends set to enhance our experience with technology and deepen our connections, emphasizing innovation's transformative power.”
Globant’s Tech Trends Report highlights the five trends set to revolutionize industries and everyday life to prepare for the unprecedented changes on the horizon:
Synthetic Humans: Building on Media Equation theory, which suggests that people treat technology as social beings, synthetic humans have progressed from simple animated figures to advanced AI-driven avatars. These digital entities now offer lifelike appearances, emotions, and behaviors, fostering more genuine interactions in sectors like customer service, education, and healthcare. With the market for digital humans expected to surge, they enhance user experiences through personalized and empathetic communication. They promise to revolutionize retail by serving as personal shoppers and healthcare by offering continuous support and information.
Quantum Computing: This technological leap is set to revolutionize the world of data and digital innovation. With the global quantum computing market projected to skyrocket from $412 million in 2020 to $8.6 billion by 2027, this technology is rapidly evolving beyond classical limits, set to not only break new ground in AI and encryption but also to usher in a quantum internet with secure, instant global communication.
Invisible Experiences: Artificial Intelligence seamlessly integrates into our lives, becoming a ubiquitous and empathetic companion rather than just a tool. Smart glasses will lead the invisible experiences revolution, evolving from bulky gadgets into stylish, high-tech accessories that blend augmented reality with daily convenience. As tech giants race to perfect these innovations, the invisible future becomes a game-changer.
Agentic AI: It has become the holy grail of the tech industry, mainly outside the view of the general public. This new trend is revolutionizing the landscape of AI by moving beyond isolated, single-agent systems to a dynamic, multi-agent framework that functions like a team of specialized experts. Globant announced the integration of its proprietary AI Agents into the software development life cycle (SDLC) in June. These AI Agents augmented by humans impact the full SDLC, including backend prototyping, application design, testing, and more, to enhance efficiency by solving tasks autonomously.
Robotics: This technology is on the brink of a monumental transformation, driven by unprecedented advances in AI and investment. The robotics market, projected to surge from $262 billion in 2023 to $346 billion by 2025, is being revolutionized by innovations such as AI-driven autonomous robots and IoT integration. Smart robots evolve with enhanced autonomy and human-like capabilities, while affordable household robots are becoming more prevalent. This era of "Internet of Robotics" and "Robotics Operations" will redefine efficiency and connectivity, making robots an integral part of daily life and business operations, and blurring the lines between imagination and reality.
Globant’s Tech Trends Report paints a vivid picture of an exciting future. These advancements are not just technical marvels; they represent a shift towards a world where technology is more intuitive, empathetic, and seamlessly integrated into daily lives. AI will become an invisible yet omnipresent force, and systems will evolve to emulate human-like collaboration. These Tech Trends were also discussed at Globant’s CONVERGE AI: Disrupt, Delight, Connect, you can watch the entire event here.
